What Detailed Issues Should Be Noted When Installing a Coreless Motor?

No matter what task you are doing, there are always some details that require special attention. So, what detailed issues should be noted when installing a coreless motor? Let’s take a look at the information compiled by Xinhe Motor.

Detailed Issues to Note During Coreless Motor Installation:

1. Operating Voltage Considerations

A coreless motor exhibits excellent comprehensive performance when operating at its rated voltage. It is recommended that when designing the circuit (e.g., for a mobile device), the operating voltage be designed as close as possible to the rated voltage. The control module supplying power to the coreless motor should have as low an output impedance as possible to prevent a significant drop in output voltage under load, which would otherwise affect the vibration feel or motor performance.

2. Mounting Bracket and Positioning Slot Design

For motors equipped with a mounting bracket, the gap between the positioning slot and the device housing (e.g., phone case) should not be too large. Otherwise, additional vibration (mechanical noise) may occur. Using a rubber sleeve for fixing can effectively avoid mechanical noise. However, it should be noted that the positioning slot in the housing and the rubber sleeve should have an interference fit. Otherwise, the motor’s vibration output may be affected, resulting in a diminished vibration feel.

3. Avoiding Strong Magnetic Fields

During transit or use, avoid placing the coreless motor near strong magnetic fields. Strong magnetic fields may distort the surface magnetism of the motor’s magnetic steel, thereby affecting motor performance. Keep the motor away from speakers, large magnets, or magnetic shielding materials during storage and handling.

4. Soldering Temperature and Time

Pay attention to both soldering temperature and soldering time. The recommended soldering conditions are: 320°C for 1-2 seconds. Excessively long soldering time or excessively high temperatures may damage the insulation layer of the lead wires. Proper soldering technique is essential to maintain the integrity and reliability of the motor connections.

5. Handling Lead Wires with Care

When removing a coreless motor from its packaging box or during the soldering process, avoid pulling or yanking the lead wires with excessive force. Also, do not repeatedly bend the lead wires at large angles. Doing so may damage the lead wires, potentially causing breakage or intermittent connection issues.

That concludes the introduction to the detailed issues to pay attention to during coreless motor installation. When installing coreless motors in your daily work, be sure to keep the above points in mind for optimal performance and reliability.
